Meghan Markle has quickly become the reigning royal of style – and she’s brought her favourite Canadian brands along for the ride! Every time she steps out, fans of the former actress go wild over her chic outfit choices, which perfectly combine the essence of a future royal with a touch of the California native’s down-to-earth sensibilities. “Her style screams sophistication and class,” Hugo Thibeault told Hello!.
The Senior Director of Global Communications for Mackage, the label behind the nude coat she wore for a day of surprise engagements in Belfast, is already a huge fan of the former actress. “These days she is the new style icon.” The homegrown brand, a favourite of the royal bride-to-be, got another dose of the “Meghan Effect”on Friday (March 23) when their $790 MAI coat in Sand sold out in one hour after the 36-year-old took it for a spin in Ireland.
Meghan dazzled as she and fiancé Prince Harry visited the Eikon Centre and Crown Liquor Saloon, clad in a collection of spring colours. She wore the Mackage topper over a flouncy green skirt by fellow Canadian label Greta Constantine, a white Victoria Beckham sweater and rust-hued velvet Jimmy Choo pumps. “We all love this look at the office,” Hugo revealed. “Our MAI wool coat is very elegant and feminine, just like Meghan!”
The Mackage team were treated to the most exciting start to their weekend, as they had no idea the former Toronto resident would be wearing their coat. “She bought the coat in November last year,” explained Hugo. “We woke up this morning and the image of her wearing it was already all over the web!”
Even though Meghan has worked with the Canadian label for years, from Suits to her first royal engagement in Nottingham, it’s still a huge honour to be selected from the wardrobe of one of the most famous women in the world. “This makes us feel so special. To see her keeping up wearing our collection from season to season shows that she truly loves wearing Mackage. She has access to all the brands in the world and can wear anything she wants,” he gushed. “To be part of this select group of brands she adores is a real statement.”
And as for fans who want to emulate her style, the coat is still well within reach – or it will be. Though the Sand colour is sold out online, pre-orders are available on their website now and it’s in stock at Mackage stores across in North America.
