The homicide unit is investigating the death of a 26-year-old man after a seemingly targeted drive-by shooting in Brampton Saturday evening.
Peel paramedics were called just after 10 p.m. to the area of Brisdale Dr. and Linderwood Dr., north of Bovaird Dr. for the report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds and without vital signs outside of a residence. Paramedics tried to revive him but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have identified the man as Nasser Abdoulkader of Brampton.
Const. Bancroft Wright says the man did not live in the area, but was visiting for a gathering. He was standing outside in the driveway with a group of other people when “a car pulled up and shots were fired from that car,” striking Abdoulkader.
Wright told media that because of the way the vehicle — described only as “dark-coloured” — pulled up outside the residence directly before shooting, “it seems at this point that the individuals or suspects knew who this individual was and who they were going after.”
Despite there being a group of people in the driveway, no one else was injured in the shooting.
There is no suspect description yet, and it’s still unknown just how many people were in the vehicle that opened fire. The vehicle was last seen travelling east on Linderwood Dr.
Police are canvassing the neighbourhood for more information, and are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and speak with them.
